The upside of menopause ...

... just the thought of turning on the heat makes me sweat. The temperature dropped to the 30s the other night and I slept with the ceiling fan on! Of course, I'm not the only one  living here, so I'm eventually going to have to give in....but not yet.

On an unrelated note, I just went to see what's up in Mysti's world and found I had been blocked from her blog. As she was one of the first PF bloggers I started following way back when, this makes me sad. I'm trying not to take it personally ...

Is it getting hot in here??

Sarah

    1. I must have missed some drama. Oh well. Glad I'm not the only one happy to live in a freezer!

    2. I am blocked as well. I am sorry that she was hurt, but I believe that some of the comments were done with love. I know that there were some comments that were harsh. And I have had harsh comments on my own blog. And it does smart, because I was in such denial.

    3. There are two people making the financial decisions, but only one person blogging about them. Perhaps the decision was already made, so she found it frustrating to be told it was not the best idea?

It wasn't pleasant to hear, I get that. Like Rhitter, I think the comments were made with love, by people who want to see her succeed with her stated goals.

Perhaps in time she will unblock those to whom she has been closest, such as you three ladies.

  2. I'm blocked as well. I think the comments were all made with care and concern, but it is difficult to face such a dire financial situation. I think she wanted people to feel sorry for her and not encourage her to make hard decisions.

    1. I think perhaps she wanted validation that the decision was fine and everything would somehow work out OK.

    2. Yes, it is hard to hear comments that are not supportive of your choices. I hope she isn't giving up. Maybe after she cools off, she'll see some value in others' suggestions.

  3. I was wondering the same thing about Mysti. Sarah, I asked my husband if we could open the windows here and our house was at 67 degrees but I'm also almost 9 months pregnant.

    1. Nine months pregnant gives you the right to open every window in the house no matter the temp!!

  4. Oh Sarah!! I'm right there with you! I'm sitting in my house with a sleeveless shirt while mile husband has a sweater on. :)! I would save so much on my heating bill if it were just me!

I've been out of the loop with Mysti...what's going on?

    1. I know, right? These people are a drain on us wanting heat and food all the time!

  5. Her husband's car died and they're planning on trying to take out another car loan. Barely made it through the couple weeks he wasn't paid during the budget fiasco in Congress - she wrote about being scared at the grocery store. There were suggestions to carpool, better budgeting of food, cutting out all extras, etc. Not a lot of commiserating and validating the need for another loan.

    2. Yes, I imagine it is. I have been there, where I would be making great progress, only to get deeper into debt due to poor decisions. I recall some of the harsh comments I received, and I was in complete denial.

  6. I'm blocked too. That's too bad. I like her and her blog. She is the one who turned me on to Autism day at Sesame and my son loved it. I hope she comes back.

  7. I am blocked also. I don't think any of the comments were meant in a cruel way.

  8. I HAVE saved enormously on the heating bill since my journey through menopause began lol! Michael and Kazi complain a lot but since I pay the bill then I set the temperature! Put on a sweater!!

  9. I got blocked as well and was originally very upset as I always checked her blog first. But I've reconsidered and decided I only used her blog to feel better as I paid off my debt (down to $0.00) since I so often felt she made poor decisions. I'm focusing on PF blogs that are challenging to me from now on. Wish her well, however.
