I ordered eyeglasses online ... and I'm scared!

So I've recovered enough from Bell's Palsy to get back to my to-do list. You might remember that the dog chewed my glasses to dust not long ago. Those glasses were all of three months old. Today I headed over to the place where I bought them and had them crunch the numbers. Insurance won't help because it's been less than a year. The lenses, which were under warranty, can't be replaced because I have nothing to give them to return for replacement. But since they felt sorry for me, they offered to give me a 30% discount. That would make the total ... are you ready? .... $378. Uh, no thanks.

So I got a copy of my prescription and hit the road. I did a little searching online and settled on a site with reasonable reviews. 39dollarglasses. I found a coupon code and went to work. The final cost, including shipping, came to $23.95. So I hit the button.

And now I wait to find out if I've wasted my money or gotten a good deal. Anybody ever try this before? I sure am hoping this was a brilliant move on my part. I'll let you know.

Sarah

  1. Do let us know! I am very unhappy with my current frames (they just don't sit "right", and one of the lenses has some sort of weird, deep scratch inside the thin lense which only becomes apparent under the right light), so I've bene thinking about discount glasses. But since I only use glasses for the winter, I may just save my money for contacts, but I'd love different glasses too if they're affordable enough.

    1. I will be sure to update when they arrive! I'm anxious to see how they are, too. I don't need them all the time, but enough that I miss having good ones.

  2. We ordered them for my husband last year from 39dollars glasses or something like that, for work and they were great. We have also ordered them for middle child and so far we havent had a problem.

Let us know how it goes

  3. I'm wearing a pair from 39dollarglasses right now. I also have two pairs from Zenni Optical. I love them! Never had a problem with any that I ordered online. I just wish my contacts were as cheap...

  4. My friends swear by Zenni -- but I always have to try my glasses on. And because I have bifocals - I was warned that they would probably need adjusting in order to see correctly. I keep wanting to order at least for the kids - maybe a spare pair - but haven't yet. Can't wait to hear how you like them.

  6. I have been using 39DollarGlasses for 5 years now and swear by them. The cheaper sites are ok but they are made in China and take forever to get.

39DG is made in New York so you get your glasses faster (and better quality).

  7. I bought a pair of glasses from coastal contacts and I love them. Because I was a new customer I just paid shipping (the glasses were free!) I get more compliments on them then I do on the pair I paid $400 for. You can even upload a photo of yourself to see what they will look like on your face.
