Debt round-up

I finally added up the numbers for the first time in awhile. We went through a rough stretch there and hit a plateau with repayment. But, I'm happy to report that we've now reduced our debt by another $877.41. That means that so far in 2011, we've shaved $11,148.98 off our debt total! There's still a long, long way to go, but I sure do like seeing that ticker move. Hope everyone else is seeing progress, too!

  3. That is almost $1000.00 a month no chump change, and remember it grows larger every month, maybe only by a few pennies but eventually dollars and then hundreds. I know because I have lived this program. I started where you are and my first years was just over $11,000. Keep it up!

  6. I remember when you couldn't see the black numbers on your ticker. Now I can see two, and most of the third. You're doing great!

  7. Hi Sarah, I have been following your blog since you started it but have never commented before. I am a "lurker" of many blogs and I guess by not commenting, I was somehow in denial of my own personal debt. I sickens me and I can't sleep some nights. 2012 is going to be the beginning of our "new life" of becoming debt free...FOREVER!! You have truly been an inspiration for me to admit to my debt, face it, and pay it!! Thank you for sharing your story with us, I know it must have been terribly hard to publish those numbers and someday I hope I can do the same...until then, keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing your progress in 2012! Merry Christmas to you and your family.

PS Tell you sister we would love to hear from her again soon :)

  8. Thanks, everyone, for the kind words! Your encouragement has played a big part in my success so far.

@ Kim - you give me HOPE that I will make it! It helps so much to hear from those who have walked where I now walk. Thank you.

@ Eboo - yes, I well remember when you were finally the one to figure out the hidden numbers on the ticker! I'm looking forward to the day when we can see them all - far removed from what's left! Oh, and I've started your one-year savings plan again. I hope I can stick with it this time.

@ nuggets30 - SO glad you decided to comment! It reminds me that there are more people out there reading this than those who are regular encouragers. I'm honored that you consider me an inspiration. Not what I would label someone with the numbers I have. And, yes, it was VERY hard to write down those numbers, but I promise that doing so is a huge step to conquering them. This year is the first that the numbers have gone down overall instead of up. That doesn't mean there haven't been HUGE bumps along the way, but we're making progress - and being able to SEE it is a big motivator. I hope you'll join me on the journey. We can hold each other's hands!!

Jenny promises to update soon! Thanks for remembering her.
