Poof goes the paycheck

The euphoria over payday lasted mere minutes. I paid the mortgage, American Express, Department of Education, Chase, life insurance and a co-pay to the hospital for a scheduled doctor's visit.

There's $83.94 left to last until next Friday. The good news is that there is plenty of food in the house. The bad news is that gas for both the cars will come perilously close to the amount. And it leaves zero wiggle room for unexpected expenses.

Sure wish my balance sheet was an April Fool's joke. But it's real and it's hard not to get discouraged. I think I need to set some realistic goals for this year so I can feel like I'm getting some traction. I'm going to think on that.

  1. I hear ya sister! I have just under $80 til the 15th of the month so it should be fun. Sometimes I get tired of the constant challenges too so have to remind myself, over and over again of what my goal is. Funny, I have to do that with my diet also tee hee :(

  3. Oh Sarah, I feel for you. Debt sucks so much. I was just thinking to myself that I really need to set some goals also. I was working away paying down one loan and have been hit with 900.00 that needed to go on my credit cards. Bad me for not having that emergency fund in place. Well now my goal is to build that emergency fund and forget the snowball on the debt for now... sigh. It's so hard to not get discouraged. Thankfully we have blogger friends who know what its like.

  4. Glad to have you as a new blogger friend Little Lamb! I know all about those emergency expenses. I had an emergency fund in place, but it has been depleted and needs to be replenished. It will take awhile, though, and that's where the discouragement comes in. I've signed us up to follow your blog. Let's encourage each other along the way!

  5. Just be happy that you have the 80+ in the account, there are lots of ppl who don't! Like me ... yes I admit it I have run out of money until next Thursday. I put gas on mom's car only 15$ and bought bus tickets for $24 which left me with like 2$ in my account. Then my bank fees payment came out and I was +9$ in the red...sigh... thank goodness I had money in my bills fund so I trans it to bring me back in to the black.

However this means I have ZERO in the account... Its depressing and embarrassing. The only good thing is that there is food in the fridge, bus tickets in my pocket, studyin to do and lots of unread books on my shelves.

I am a grass if 1/2 full kinda gal!

  7. OK, Sarah, I'll be thankful for my paltry balance :) So glad you have food and bus tickets, though! And I'm a reader, too - that's my preferred free entertainment!

Glad to connect Little Lamb. When I left comments for you, they showed up at first and then disappeared - I have no idea how that happens! Yep, blogs can be frustrating, too.
